America Power Partners (NAPP)
is a full service demand response
provider. NAPP offers
several electric demand response
programs for industrial and commercial customers. These
programs provide
financial incentives and other benefits to participating
customers
to reduce their energy usage once a month for 15 minutes.
Additional revenue is available throughout the
year
when you relieve generation and transmission constraints,
reduce the severity of wholesale price spikes,
reduce emissions and improve reliability for all consumers.
In the 1980's, Electric Utility Demand Response Programs
were usually designed and offered by electric utilities.
These programs offered clients that signed up for specific
Demand Response Programs financial incentives and other benefits
that helped those participating customers to curtail energy
use.
Today, electric utilities typically outsource their demand
response participation through demand response service providers
such as NAPP. Demand response service providers
install certain software and hardware that communicates with
the
client’s
online energy management systems. In some cases, they also
control
the client's electric
power requirements as needed. These actions by NAPP and
participating clients provide a reliable, predictable amount
of power (megawatts)
that the ISOs and RTOs can count on during an emergency,
when energy supplies are low, or when there is an inadequate
amount of available power generation.
NAPP administers its demand response programs and communicates
with participants through advance online energy management
systems. Industrial and commercial customers can receive
notifications when to reduce electric from the grid or self
schedule their conservation efforts.
